Dave Hunsaker was appointed to the City Council in March of 2004 to fill a council vacancy and was elected in November 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 & 2020. Dave serves on the DeWitt Area Emergency Services Authority (DAESA), DeWitt Area Recreation Authority (DARA), and the Construction Board of Appeals. Dave was appointed as Mayor Pro-Tem in January of 2017 and is chair of the budget committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Dave is a licensed master electrician and electrical contractor. He is a certified substation technician and is experienced in high-voltage power distribution. He has been employed with General Motors since 1984 and his current assignment is at the Lansing Regional Stamping Plant in Delta Township where he works with industrial automation and robotics specializing in robot vision. He is an elected representative of the U.A.W. serving on the election and constitution and bylaws committees. Dave and his wife Karen have lived in DeWitt since 1990. They have two adult children, Madeline & Mark. Dave enjoys reading, primarily American history, and bicycling.
Maria Ostrander was appointed to City Council in July 2023. Previously, she served as a council member from 2012-2019 and on several boards and commissions including DARA, DAESA, Parks and Rec, and most recently on the Public Art Committee.
Maria received her M.A. in English Language and Literature from Eastern Michigan University. As a marketing specialist with Smart Homes and Smart Offices in Mason, MI, she works hand-in-hand with the company’s website development team to help clients maximize their web presence and connect with their customers.
Maria and her husband, Greg, have been residents of DeWitt since 1997. They have one adult daughter, Elise, who is a graduate of DeWitt High School. In her free time, you’ll find Maria writing and working as the cook, baker, and picture-taker on her food blog, MOstlyBakes.com, or spending time around a table with family, friends, and good food.
Trevor VanDyke was appointed to City Council in March 2016 and elected to Council in November 2016 and 2020. Prior to his appointment to City Council, Trevor served as a member of the DeWitt Area Recreational Authority.
Trevor is the Director of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Office of the Department of Natural Resources. He has been with the DNR since 2012. His previous work experience includes Account Executive at Wells Fargo Financial, Legislative Director and Chief of Staff within the Michigan Senate.
Trevor holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hope College in Political Science, with a minor in Management, and Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Trevor and his wife Katie reside in DeWitt with their three children, Chloe, Ava, and Judah. He enjoys spending time with his family and the outdoors.
Mark E. Kellogg is serving his first term on City Council, having just been elected effective January 1, 2023. Previously Mark served on the DeWitt Planning Commission. Mark has also served as a member of the DeWitt Public Schools Board of Education from 2004 through 2018.
Mark is an attorney and certified public accountant and is currently a shareholder and current President of the Fraser Trebilcock law firm, with offices in Lansing, Detroit, and Grand Rapids.
Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hillsdale College and received his Juris Doctorate from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
Mark and his wife Cheryl have been residents of DeWitt since 1993, and they have two adult children, Mathew and Breanna who are graduates of DeWitt High School. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities and is an avid sports fan.
Jennifer Whitman was appointed to City Council on June 26, 2017, to fill a council vacancy. Jennifer was then elected to a full term in 2018 and 2022. She previously served on the Downtown Development Authority.
Jennifer is a chiropractor and local business owner of Downtown Dewitt Chiropractic and Massage.
Jennifer attended Olivet Nazarene University for her undergraduate education and has her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University.
Jennifer and her husband Rich have loved living in the City of Dewitt since 2004. They have 3 children; Elijah, Olivia, and Jeremiah. The family enjoys exploring our beautiful state and are coffee and food enthusiasts.
Denise Donohue was elected to City Council effective January 2019 and again in 2022. She currently chairs the City’s Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Committee. Previously, Denise served on the Downtown Development Authority and was an original member of the city’s Tree Commission in the 1990s.
Denise is CEO of the County Road Association of Michigan, secretary of the Michigan Municipal Wetland Alliance, and serves on the faculty at Lansing Community College. She was previously executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee in DeWitt Township.
Denise has lived in the city for 35 years, is married to MSU professor Dr. William Donohue, and has a blended family of five sons. She holds an M.A. in Journalism and a B.S. in Horticulture, from Michigan State University’s Honors College, and is accredited in Association Management and Public Relations. Denise is a member of Conquest Gym, Trinity Church in Lasing, and its DeWitt Neighborhood Group. Denise is a frequent community volunteer and enjoys walking, biking, and running throughout the city.
