CITY OF DEWITT
Notice to Cut Weeds

The City of DeWitt Code of Ordinances, Section 70, Article III (Weeds and Grass), states in part, “No person shall permit weeds or grass to reach a height of eight inches on land within the city-owned by or under the possession, control or occupancy of such person, including any public right-of-way or easement portion thereof.”  Unless otherwise excepted by this Article, all weeds and grass standing at a height of eight inches, or more are declared to be public nuisances.

All weeds and grass of eight inches in height or more shall be cut.  Cuttings shall not be accumulated in piles of eight inches or more in height.

This notice is to inform all persons of the City’s intent to enforce this Article.  A person who violates any provision of this article is responsible for a municipal civil infraction, subject to payment of a civil fine with repeat offenses subject to increased fines.  Charges for weed or grass cutting shall be a lien upon the premises.
